This Diogmites was perched in my back yard around some mature Iris growing near a fountain. The yard had been proclaimed safe ground so this lucky fly was not collected. I did catch a D. misellus trapped in the garage soon after. This is likely D. neoternatus. Whichever it is, I like the lunar landing craft leg position.

Definite D. neoternatus from Norm's yard. They seem to come out in abundance in shaded woodlands in July here. Note the bright and relatively unmarked abdomen and the triple dorsal stripe with very black base.
