Half of this genus are limited to California. Three or four sneak into the SW and Texas. This is a Texas shot from Norm. Taken in winter time in the lowlands of Big Bend. This is in the tribe with the Cyrtopogon and Heteropogon. Note the absence of pulvilli (the extension on the feet between the two claws). This is an unusual feature. The eye shape is distinct as well. Only A. rufotibialis makes it to TX.
