The Spittlebugs are in the family Cercopidae and this includes the Froghoppers as well. Most are small and vaguely resemble frogs in some cases. (I don't know, squint.) They are plant feeders. And the nymphs are surrounded by frothy secretions that give them their spittle name. This unfortunately is secreted from their anuses. They abandon the spittle after the last molt. Adults don't make spittle. I don't have a species number for this family. The above insect is in the Lepyronia genus.
