Russet-tipped Clubtail Stylurus plagiatus An elegant dragonfly in a large genus. Those bright turquoise eyes and the red-orange flag are fairly distinctive for our area. Likes to perch rather floppily on leaves and stems. Less often on the ground. Females have a less prominent club that is rounded and more subtly orange. Frequents rivers and ponds, including the large Arkansas River waterway. |

The most common dragon by far along the sandy hot cactus laden shore area at Holla Bend. This is a fine male with mild wingwear. Fine eye color. |

A female with her slimmer tail. She is likely not to full color yet either. |

A female from the August 2011 run to Holla Bend. They were perching everywhere. Again the almost all orange red abdomen fading darkly forward. |
