Russet-tipped Clubtail Stylurus plagiatus

An elegant dragonfly in a large genus. Those bright turquoise eyes and the red-orange flag are fairly distinctive for our area. Likes to perch rather floppily on leaves and stems. Less often on the ground. Females have a less prominent club that is rounded and more subtly orange. Frequents rivers and ponds, including the large Arkansas River waterway.

A female with her slimmer tail. She is likely not to full color yet either.
