Roseate Skimmer Orthemis ferruginea

A unique color combo of pink body and clear wings. Only the male pink form Roseate has that. There is a red form but I have never seen one. David took this shot from eastern AR and they are fairly common at Red Slough OK as well. Females are brown and yellow and orange with a flanged eighth abdominal segment. This is the only member of the genus into the southern US. There are 16 other species from Mexico south into South America.
