Double-ringed Pennant Celithemis verna

The lovelier and rarer of the Celithemis group in Arkansas. This is a female which shows the namesake rings on the abdomen. The male is all dark forward and rearward. Small as with most of the genus. These appear larger than Little Blue Dragonlets but not by much. They like grassy areas near slow or open water. I have seen only a single male in the same area. Known from a spread of southern counties. This one is from Conway county near the big swamps east of the Goose Pond.
