Tawny-edged Skipper Polites themistocles

A small common skipper in yards and gardens. Appears much smaller than Sachem and more shark-fin shaped in my eyes. The rich orange is brighter along that high edge of the forewing. Uses grasses. A fast orange skipper when zipping around the yard plants. Could be mistaken for the Broken-dashes but both are larger. And Rose's fine open shot. Compare with Crossline interior.

A fine one among the Liatris on the porch. I have to say that this species among several others is one I have seen much less often in the past five years.
