Southern Broken-Dash Wallengrenia otho A fairly common skipper which is extremely variable in my experience. This is a very fresh individual. Appears about Sachem-sized. Likes open woodlands and often perches up on tree leaves to display. Can be found in yards where the Northern BD is rare. Inner wing pattern similar to the Tawny-edge but Broken-Dashes are much larger than the Tawny. Northern is generally darker and a Northern this orange would be unusual. I also don't find Northerns with that much color on the inner hindwing surface. |

Often locally abundant in the late summer in an apparent second brood, this is another from Camp on the late bending Bromus heads. |
