Pepper and Salt Skipper Amblyscirtes hegon

Actually a Roadside-Skipper that is small and dusty, greenish on the outside, often looking scaly. Usually fairly rare but the day this shot was taken, I found over one hundred in one mountainous stretch of road near a clear creek. Sometimes found mudding otherwise.

Another shot of the Pepper showing the green tones and the spotting beneath the scaling seen in good light. A very fancy butterfly up close.

Bob's award winning Pepper with an almost pathologic level of scaling going on. Nice Minty green tones. Yow.

And one from Rose in Baxter county with some unusual hindwing marks. Still salty and peppery however.
