Olympia Marble Euchloe olympia

A spring specialty closely related to the Orangetip. Less common in general with certain elevated areas having nice brood emergences in spring, mostly in western Arkansas. Often occurs with Orangetips and can fool observers when in flight. Marbles are larger and have a slower flap rate. This nicely marked Marble from Lake Catherine shows the amazingly consistent hindwing mapping. Beauties.

There is no orange in either sex in the dorsal view and, of course, the wingtips are not falcate but rounded as shown here.
