A female from the Pulaski County cluster. Shows the rich blue interior and the plain exterior hindwing. We ran into this one on the butterfly count in June and had not expected them. Dianas have been showing up in yard gardens in the Little Rock area more and more often recently.

And even I was stunned by the colors that reflected from this flashed shot on a fresh female in my front yard in 2009. In June males come daily to the butterfly bushes in my yard. Females only make rare appearances. This one even rested in the patch of Violets we keep for just this purpose in the yard. I did not see egglaying however.

A 2017 appearance of a female. Playing around with me in the front yard. Shot across the bow.
