Crossline Skipper Polites origenes

Another of the orange skippers and sometimes difficult to separate from the broken-dashes and the smaller Tawny-edge without good views of all wing surfaces. The exterior wings of the Crossline often show a light row of dots (see other photos) and never the reverse numeral three of the similarly orange Southern Broken-Dash. Likes open grassy areas but will perch nearby on higher growth and tree limbs to sun or guard territories. As with most of the orange based grass skippers these are fast flyers. Faster, often, than the eye can track.
