The Hairstreaks and Blues are an extraordinary group in the tropics and Central America. For the Hairstreaks mainly. Blues are limited and most occur from northward. All the Blues also occur in the US. Sometimes the Hairstreaks are very localized, so fewer extended range species occur. Some of these are simply stunning butterflies. Many are poorly defined by range or limited to certain altitudes, slopes or specific mountains. Many may fly only high in the canopy most of their lives. And flight seasons may be brief. |
